The jetpack was first experienced in Warhawk through its final DLC pack. It has made a return as a standard vehicle with a few significant changes. In order to command the ground, it will be essential to pick this up.
To use the Vulture, hold down R2 then jump into the air- the boosters will then unfurl and send your character into the air. To continue your ascent, hold down R2; as you use the Jetpack, it will use up energy reserves, indicated above the weapons HUD on the right side of the screen. The Jetpack can be deployed at a maximum six seconds before needing a recharge, which usually takes three seconds after landing on a solid surface.
Hitting X or Circle will activate the boost, sending the character further into the sky or quickly towards the ground, respectively. As rocket launchers and Hawks can lock onto Jetpacks, users can dodge rockets when a warning is displayed- hit either X or Circle to do so. As boosting uses up half of its energy, don't expect to dodge a second rocket without touching ground first.
Hovering is possible through holding L1 to zoom in on your equipped weapon; hovering will eat up the jetpack's energy at roughly the same speed as ascending. If you are moving in a certain direction while aiming, you will begin to accelerate in that direction until you let go of L1, or you run out of jetpack energy.
When facing troops within 50 yards of you, stick with the shotgun in the air- the aerial advantage is dampened with a slight loss in accuracy, but easily compensated with the shot able to hit multiple targets. Anything further away should be dealt with either the rifle or rocket launcher.
The Vulture can also be used in stealth-based situations through out-maneuvering your opponent. As using a jetpack will put you on the enemy's radar, move behind enemy lines through unexpected passageways to either get to the flag or claim a knife kill.
On a final note, the Vulture evens the odds against enemy Razorbacks. If you find yourself in open territory and a driver is looking to pin you down, hit X, then hold R2 + X to jump then quickly boost into the air. There's no question this enemy will stop then turn around to pursue you, so be ready to toss grenades when he or she is slowing down to back up, and have your rocket launcher out to take them down when they're at full acceleration.
